Flyers are permitted to bring several full-size liquids through airport security. According to The New York Post, technological advancements could allow certain full-sized liquids on flights in the near future. Those advancements could mean the of the 3-1-1 blanket rule, which currently requires all carry-on liquids to be stored in 3.4-ounce containers inside one quart-sized plastic bags. Per The Post, tomography (CT) scanners that use 3D imaging to detect unauthorized liquids could mean the of travel-sized personal hygienic items and cleaners at certain airports. Conde Nast Traveler reported that CT scanners have already been implemented in some airports, which led to some airports in Europe eliminating the restrictions in 2023. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) told the publication that its officials "anticipate the limit on liquids will be lifted in the coming years.?The restrictions remain in place for now, however. There are 11 full-size liquids that may pass through airport security, however. According to The Post, they are the following: ?Over-the-counter medications ?Prescription medication in gel, liquid or aerosol ?Freezer or ice packs for medically necessary items ?Food and drink for toddlers and babies ?Wet batteries ?Live fish transported in water ?Biological specimens ?Breast milk or formula for infants ?Teethers filled with liquid ?Duty-free items sealed in a tamper-evident bag ?Fresh eggs According to the agencys official website, ?SA officers may test liquids, gels or aerosols for explosives or concealed prohibited items." The agency also advises travelers to inform agents about larger liquids. Liquids that arent able to be screened by machine, or if the traveler does not wish to have their liquid medication ed or exposed to X-ray, may have the items check via other methods, per The Post. ?dditional steps will be taken to clear the liquid, and you or the traveling guardian will undergo additional screening procedures, which may include AIT screening, a pat-down and additional screening of your carry-on property,?the TSA states, per the publication.
