Media reports that Hede (Hongkong) International Shipping Limited would be withdrawing a Transpacific service due to the introduction of US Trade Representative fees on Chinese ships as from 14 October, appear to be incorrect.
The Chinese carrier will in October skip four sailings of its China ?California ?DS2?service which connects Huanghua and Shanghai with Los Angeles.
The fleet of this service will be temporarily down to only one ship ?the 1,827 teu ANDROKLIS ?which is however scheduled to offer another departure ex Huanghua to Los Angeles on 24 October.
Hede Shipping will in October offer a feeder connection from Huanghua to Shanghai, where Chinese export cargo to Los Angeles will be transhipped on the ?DS?service, which turns in five weeks with five 1,740 ?2,860 teu ships as a direct shuttle between Shanghai and Los Angeles.
Forward schedules also show that Hede continues to offer direct sailings between Nansha and Los Angeles with its South China - California ?DS3?service, which turns in five weeks with 5 x 2,700 ?4,400 teu vessels.
